ABOUT TIME!: Bible Belt University Acknowledges Pagan Holidays

As much as we are told that the USA was not meant to be a Christian Nation, we can see the obvious bend toward Christianity being more outwardly respected than other religious. Even if we take a look at the Official National Holidays in our country (Federal Law 5 U.S.C. 6103):

Tuesday, January 1

New Year's Day

Monday, January 21

Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, February 18*

Washington's Birthday

Monday, May 26

Memorial Day

Friday, July 4

Independence Day

Monday, September 1

Labor Day

Monday, October 13

Columbus Day

Tuesday, November 11

Veterans Day

Thursday, November 27

Thanksgiving Day

Thursday, December 25

Christmas Day

we see an interesting entry. Yes, most of our holidays are secular in nature with one exception, Christmas.

Although all religious holidays are protected under our Constitution, one US University has specific policies and protections regarding Pagan Holidays. What blew me away the most about this is WHERE the colleges is. Marshall University is deep in the heart of the Bible Belt, WEST VIRGINIA! (Click on "ABOUT TIME: Bible Belt..." to read the whole article)

This is the first College/University I have heard actually protects Pagan students. If anyone out there knows of any others, please post them under the comments section of the blog.

Bravo to Marshall University for having balls and not bending to the pressures of the area in which they reside.
